Wishes Pour In As Rahul Dravid Turns 49

New Delhi, Jan 11: Indian men’s cricket team head coach and former cricketer Rahul Dravid turned 49 on Tuesday.

Birthday greetings poured in for ‘The Wall’ of Indian cricket as master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, Olympian Abhinav Bindra and others wished the former captain on social media.

Tendulkar shared a throwback picture with a caption: “A very happy birthday to you Jammy. Wish you the best of health and good luck for the 3rd Test.”

Former India cricketer Venkatesh Prasad tweeted: “Birthday greetings to a thorough gentleman and a role-model for many youngsters, Rahul Dravid. Wishing Rahul ever more love and good fortune.”

Beijing Olympic gold medallist shooter Bindra wrote: “Warm birthday wishes to Rahul Dravid, the man who taught an entire generation the art of perseverance and patience. Watching him go about his business is the best advertisement on how to approach sport as well as life.”

Dinesh Karthik shared a hilarious birthday wish by posting a screenshot of a cement commercial ‘Bhaiya ye deewar girti kyu nahi’ with a caption: “Happy birthday to the batter who made bowlers feel this”

Former India opener Virender Sehwag: “Wall Done always. Birthday greetings to a wonderful man. Wishing you good health, joy and happiness always.

“A brilliant cricketer, a wonderful human being and a fine coach. Wishing you a very happy birthday Rahul Dravid Sir. May god bless you,” said Shubhman Gill.

Former cricketer Suresh Raina wrote, “”Happy Birthday to one of the greatest sportsman of all time Raising hands. Wish you loads of success & happiness Rahul Bhai.”

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tweeted, “509 international matches 24,208 international runs, 48 international centuries. Here’s wishing Rahul Dravid – former India captain & current #TeamIndia Head Coach – a very Happy Birthday.”

The International Cricket Council wrote on Twitter, “24,208 international runs 48 centuries and 146 fifties U19 CWC winning coach in 2018 Happy birthday to India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid.”

Dravid, who made his India debut in 1996, played 164 Tests, 344 ODIs and one T20I. He scored 13,288 Test runs and 10,889 ODI runs. He has 36 centuries in Tests and 12 in ODIs to his name.

After donning the Indian jersey for 16 years, Dravid announced his retirement from international cricket in 2012.
