Koraput Forest Official Caught By Vigilance With Unaccounted Cash

Vigilance officers caught Koraput district’s Lamtaput Forest Range Officer Surjit Kumar Sahu red-handed while carrying illegally-sourced money of Rs 1,05,000 in his official vehicle late on Monday night.

The Vigilance team intercepted Sahu at Koraput Town while he was travelling to Bhubaneswar in his office Bolero vehicle (Reg. No. OD-05-AM 1928). As Sahu was unable to offer a satisfactory reply as to where he got the cash from, the Vigilance Department has initiated action against him for amassing disproportionate assets (DA).

Following the interception, the agency conducted simultaneous searches at Sahu’s office, his residential quarters at Lamtaput and family residence at Bhubaneswar on suspicion of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Further probe was underway.
