‘Maharashtra Open An Opportunity For Aspirants
Pune, Jan 30 : With Maharashtra Open kickstarting on Monday in Pune, former batting legend Sachin Tendulkar said that it will be a great opportunity for the Indian aspirants. The tournament would be played from January 31 to February 6 at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune. Taking to Twitter, Sachin said: “As a tennis enthusiast, I know many like me will be excited for the upcoming Maharashtra Open. It will be a great opportunity for all the Indian aspirants and tennis lovers to watch the ATP 250 event taking place in India. My best wishes to all the participants!” The Maharashtra Open, one of India’s oldest sporting tournaments, would be organised by the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA). As per draw revealed on Saturday, the in-form Indian pair of Rohan Bopanna and Ramkumar Ramanathan, who recently clinched an ATP title in Adelaide, has been seeded second in the doubles main draw. The duo will kickstart their campaign against the experienced American pair of Jamie Cerretani and Nicolas Monroe. Apart from Bopanna and Ramkumar, two more Indian pairs will be seen in action in the doubles as Yuki Bhambri and Divij Sharan, and Arjun Kadhe and Purav Raja have received wildcards. In the singles event, with the likes of top-ranked Indian Yuki Bhambri and Ramkumar Ramanathan, as many as four Indians will be seen in action.
