Maharashtra-Odisha, Gujarat-Chhattisgarh won Nat’l Rollball title
Pune, Nov 30: Maharashtra-Odisha joint team in girls’ group and Gujarat-Chhattisgarh joint team in boys’ group defeated their respective rivals to win the senior group ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ National Rollball Tournament.
The tournament was organised on behalf of Maharashtra Rollball Association and District Rollball Association with the approval of Indian Rollball Association.
Under the concept of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat, national competitions of various sports are organised and a team of players from 2-3 states is formed, said Sandeep Khardekar, president of Maharashtra Rollball Association.
He said that through this mutual affection increases among the players of different states and all the players across the country are connected with each other.
The Maharashtra-Odisha team defeated the Madhya Pradesh-Manipur-Nagaland team 5-3 in the final match of the girl’s group in the tournament held at the District Rollball Association ground.
At the interval, the Maharashtra-Odisha team held 4-1 lead. Mahek Raut scored 3 (2.30, 4.40, 9.18 minutes) while Shruti Bhagat (5.40 minutes) and Vaibhavi Mudgal (29.45 minutes) scored one goal each for the Maharashtra-Odisha team.
Ashwini Banolia (2.01 minutes), Varnika Upadhyay (25.30 minutes) and Khushi Wankhede (28.26 minutes) scored one goal each for the Madhya Pradesh-Manipur-Nagaland team.
In the boys’ final, Gujarat-Chhattisgarh joint team defeated Madhya Pradesh-Manipur-Nagaland region joint team 7-4.
The Gujarat-Chhattisgarh joint team took a 5-1 lead at the interval. For the Gujarat-Chhattisgarh joint team, Zhankrit Aghera scored 5 (5.07, 7.45, 14.06, 27.11, 28.13 minutes) while Yash Rasia (1.51 minutes) and Bharat Sinha (8.43 minutes) scored one each.
Guruvachan Singh (7.07 minutes), Deepan Singh (18.42 minutes), Sujay Kumar (20.10 minutes) and Abhishek Kumar (22.36 minutes) scored one goal each for the Madhya Pradesh-Manipur-Nagaland team.
Earlier in the first semifinal of the boys’ group, the combined team of Madhya Pradesh-Manipur-Nagaland defeated the combined team of Uttar Pradesh-Arunachal Pradesh-Meghalaya 22-7.
In the second semifinal of the boys’ group, the Gujarat-Chhattisgarh team reached the final after defeating the Maharashtra-Odisha team 11-9.
