Madhana To Continue In ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup
Rangiora (NZ), Feb 28: Indian opener Smiriti Mandhana has been cleared for play after she was hit on the head by a Shabnim Ismail bouncer in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup warm up game against South Africa in Rangiora. Mandhana is in good spirits and will feature in India’s continued preparation for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, the ICC reported on Sunday night.
The left-hander was assessed by the team doctor following the incident and was originally declared fit to continue. But she retired hurt an over and a half later after another consultation. She felt no concussion symptoms according to the medical staff. India claimed victory in the first warm-up match over South Africa by two runs despite the loss of Mandhana, who walked off the ground on 12 not out.
