Mumbai, April 15: Chennai Super Kings’ Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL).
Chahar has not recovered from a back injury which he picked up while undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, where he was recovering from the quadricep tear he had suffered during India’s T20I series against West Indies in February.
CSK had added Chahar to their squad for Rs. 14 crore at the mega auction.
The 29-year-old, however, remained unavailable for selection in the tournament.
Kolkata Knight Riders’ Rasikh Salam also has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament owing to a lower back injury. KKR have signed fast bowler Harshit Rana as a replacement for pacer Salam, who played two games this season.
Rana, from Delhi, will join KKR at his base price of Rs. 20 lakh. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals’ physio Patrick Farhart has been tested positive for Covid-19. He is being closely monitored by the DC Medical Team at the moment.
