BCCI Announces Women’s WC Squad
Mumbai, Jan 6: The All-India Women’s Selection Committee on Thursday announced the squad for the ICC Women’s World Cup scheduled to be held in New Zealand. Batter Jemimah Rodrigues and bowling all-rounder Shikha Pandey are the surprise omission from the squad.
Mithali Raj will lead the 15-member team while Harmanpreet Kaur was named deputy.
India will play their first World Cup fixture against Pakistan on March 6 at the Bay Oval, Tauranga, New Zealand.
The squad will also feature in a five-match ODI series against New Zealand starting from February 11.
The Selection Committee also picked the squad for the one-off T20I against the Kiwis which is scheduled to be played on February 9.
Harmanpreet will lead the charge while Mandhana will shoulder the responsibility of vice-captain in the only T20 match against the Black Caps.
