Melbourne, Jan 23 (UNI) Indian tennis star Sania Mirza with her American partner Rajeev Ram sailed into mixed doubles quarterfinal at the Australian Open on Sunday. The Indo-American duo defeated the pair of Australia’s Ellen Perez and Netherlands’ Matwe Middlekoop 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 in the second-round contest. Sania and Ram will next face the winner from the match between Australian wild card pairs Samantha Stosur-Matthew Ebden and Jaimee Fourlis-Jason Kubler. Earlier, Mirza and Ram defeated the Serbian pair of Aleksandra Krunic and Nicola Cacic in the opening round.
