Archery WC: Recurve women team wins bronze
Gwangju (South Korea), May 19 : Indian recurve team on Thursday defeated Chinese Taipei to clinch a bronze medal at the Archery World Cup stage-II here. In the bronze medal contest, the Indian trio of Komalika Bari, Ankita Bhakat and Ridhi registered 6-2 win over Taipie team to win a bronze. India had a dominating start as they held early 4-0 lead by taking first two sets 56-52, 54-51 respectively. The Taipie group won the third set with a slender margin 55-54, but the Indian trio was in no mood to take the match into shoot-off and clinched the fourth set 55-54 to wrap up the win. Men’s recurve team of Tarundeep Rai, Neeraj Chauhan and Jayanta Talukdar, however, lost to France 2-6 in the quarterfinal. After recurve team bronze, India have so far won two medals at the ongoing tournament. Earlier, a team of Avneet Kaur, Muskan Kirar and Priya Gurjar got better of Turkish unit of Aysa Bera Suzer, Yesim Bostan and Singul Lok 232-231 in the compound women bronze medal contest on Wednesday. Moreover, for the second straight stage of the international tour, men’s compound team showcased a dominating form as they edged out the mighty South Korea in the semifinal on Wednesday to seal the place in the gold medal clash, to be played on Saturday. In the world cup stage 1 in Antalya, India finished its campaign with two golds. The stage winners will automatically book a ticket for the Archery World Cup Final in October.
