Biden Announces US Ban On Russian Oil Imports

Washington, March 8 : US President Joe Biden announced a US ban on Russian oil imports at a presser on Tuesday. “We’re [United States] banning all imports of Russian oil and gas and energy. That means Russian oil will no longer be acceptable at US ports and American people will do another powerful blow to Putin is war machine,” Biden said. Biden said that Washington’s decision to ban imports related to Russian oil is not without cost for the United States. “The decision today is not without cost here at home,” Biden said at the White House. Biden said the decision was made in close consultation with allies including in Europe, many of which the US understands may not be in a position to join the United States on this ban. He also said the US produces far more oil domestically than all European countries combined. The US President also called on Congress to approve legislation to provide Ukraine with $12 billion in assistance. “I call on Congress to pass a $12 billion Ukraine assistance package that I have asked them,” Biden said during remarks at the White House. Biden previously called on Congress to approve $10 billion in assistance for Ukraine.
