Balasore Accident: 6 Dead, CM Naveen Announces Ex-gratia

Bhubaneswar, Jan 22: At least 6 passengers dead and 10 sustained critical injuries after a bus overturned after being hit at back by a coal-laden truck near Bidu Chhak at Soro in Balasore district on Saturday afternoon. CM Naveen Patnaik announces a compensation of Rs. 2lakh each to the families of dead ones and has directed to ensure best treatment to all the injured in mishap.

According to source, the mishap took place when bus named- Shantilata was en-route to Bhubaneswar from Udala.

The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained.

The driver of the bus lost control on the steering wheel and it turned turtle after a coal-laden truck hit it from behind, sources informed adding that the injured were immediately rushed to Soro Community Health Centre.

While 3 persons declared brought dead, 3 other died  undergoing treatment. A one-year-old infant is among those killed in the mishap. Health conditions of other injured persons are stated to be critical, sources added.

Balasore police has done the on-spot investigation and further needful enquiry.
