FF14 Returns To Free Trials Ahead Of Graphical Update
New Delhi, Feb 22 : Final Fantasy XIV is getting its period of free trials back on Tuesday after Square halted the sale of the game due to the immense popularity of the latest expansion, Endwalker. In other words, the game’s fourth expansion pack was so well-received that Square Enix’s servers became overloaded and the company elected to suspend sales until it solve the issue. Final Fantasy XIV has a generous free trial option for new players, allowing them to play the entirety of the base A Realm Reborn release and the Heavensward expansion for as long as they’d like. Square opened up a new data center two weeks earlier to solve the issue as opening up more servers did not work due to a semiconductor shortage.
Announced in the latest Letter from the Producer livestream, director and producer Naoki Yoshida highlighted several changes coming to the MMORPG. The upcoming 6.1 April patch will expand the game’s Trust System to let players tackle more dungeons with NPCs rather than online players, low-level scenarios will be tweaked to better support solo play, and additional features such as more quests, items and aesthetics will be added to the game. Following patches will add more dungeons, cosmetics, a new dungeon type, the Myths of the Realm 24-man raid series, and the pastoral Island Sanctuary area that was first teased as part of the Endwalker expansion.
The beginning of the new main scenario questline will also feature in the upcoming 6.1 patch. Yoshida also touched on the game’s first graphical update set to accompany the 7.0 patch. It won’t be out for a while, but when it does eventually arrive, it’ll enhance the aesthetic quality of both the game’s characters and environments. The 7.0 patch will introduce the game’s first major graphical overhaul, adding new lighting and shadow effects, animations, higher resolution textures, and more ambient effects.
