Fodder Scam: Hearing On Lalu Yadav’s Bail Plea Deferred Again
Ranchi, April 8: Former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav will have to wait further for securing bail from the Jharkhand High Court as on Friday for yet another reason the hearing was deferred.
Earlier the matter was heard in the court of Chief Justice Arpesh Kumar Singh during which the CBI requested the court to give some time for filing the counter affidavit.
The request was accepted by the court which later deferred the matter and fixed April 22 as the next date for hearing. Meanwhile, while appearing on behalf of Lalu Yadav before the court senior lawyer Kapil Sibal said that Lalu Yadav has spent 11 months more than the half tenure of imprisonment awarded to him therefore he should be granted bail.
The bail petition of Lalu Yadav was earlier scheduled for hearing on April 1 but it got pushed further as the court did not convene while prior to that the court had directed to get the records from the CBI court after which nearly 65 boxes of documents were brought to the high court. For cases related with Fodder Scam in Jharkhand High Court on Friday has been fixed as the day for hearing.
On February 21 a special CBI court had awarded five years of rigorous imprisonment to Lalu Yadav and imposed a fine of Rs. 60 lakh in connection with Doranda Treasury case of the Fodder Scam.
