Ukraine Demands Criminalisation Of ‘Z’ Symbol
Kyiv, March 29: Ukraine Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on Tuesday urged countries to criminalise the use of ‘Z’ symbol that has been used to support the Russian invasion against the country.
Taking to Twitter, the Foreign Minister said, “I call on all states to criminalise the use of the ‘Z’ symbol as a way to publicly support Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine”. “‘Z’ means Russian war crimes, bombed out cities, thousands of murdered Ukrainians. Public support of this barbarism must be forbidden”.
On Monday, Germany had criminalised the ‘Z’ symbol. Germany’s Federal Ministry of the Interior tweeted, “Russian war of aggression against the Ukraine is a criminal offense. Anyone who publicly approves of this war of aggression may be liable to prosecution. This also applies to showing the “Z” symbol. Federal safety agencies are eyeing the use of the symbol”.
The ongoing conflict between the two nations started on February 24 when Russian launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
