Russia Killed Twice As Many In Mariupol Than Nazis: Ukraine
Kyiv, May 1: Ukraine’s Mariupol City Council has claimed that the Russians have killed two times higher civilians in the city in two months than the German Nazis did in two years during World War II, the media reported on Sunday.
The Russian army has killed twice as many people in Mariupol in two months as German Nazis did in two years during World War II, citing the city council’s statement CNN reported.
“In two years, the Nazis killed 10,000 civilians in Mariupol and the Russian occupiers killed over 20,000 Mariupol residents in two months. Over 40,000 people were forcefully removed,” CNN quoted Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boychenko as saying.
CNN also said that it is not able to independently verify these claims.
On Saturday, the city council also claimed that Russia has also illegally deported as many Mariupol civilians as Hitler’s troops did during the years of occupation.
“This is one of the most terrible genocides of peaceful population in modern history. The Russian army is targeting and mercilessly decimating our city and its residents,” Boychenko added.
