Putin-Zelensky’s Meeting ‘Hypothetically Possible’: Kremlin
Moscow, April 3: Russian President Vladimir Putin has not refused to meet with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, meaning a summit remains a distant possibility, Kremlin spokesman said on Sunday.
“Putin has never refused to meet and a meeting is hypothetically possible”, Dmitry Peskov told a Rossiya 1 show. But he stressed that for the summit to happen Russian and Ukrainian negotiators needed to agree a tangible document on how to address differences between the two countries.
“Not a bunch of ideas but a concrete written document. A meeting would be the next step”, the spokesman said, adding that the Kremlin had learned from its experience of negotiating the Minsk accords. The spokesman said that Russian and Ukrainian negotiators are striving to agree a document that will help the two countries normalise the situation in Ukraine. “I hope that painstaking efforts taken during the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations will allow us to sign a document that will serve as an important step toward normalising the situation,” Peskov.
This compromise will be followed by negotiations with European countries and the European Economic Community, he added. Peskov also said that Russia will fully achieve the goals of its military operation in Ukraine. “There are always ways out of any confrontation, there are always ways out of any difficult situation. I am convinced that the goals of our military operation will be achieved in full”, Peskov said.
