Disgrace: Kremlin On IPC Decision
Moscow, March 3: The Kremlin on Thursday called the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) move to ban Russian athletes from participation in the Paralympic Games “disgraceful”.
“The situation is, of course, monstrous. This is a disgrace for the International Paralympic Committee. I cannot say otherwise. One decision was made yesterday, today this decision was changed. We strongly condemn the IPC for this decision,” Sputnik quoted Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov as saying.
The IPC on Wednesday announced that Russian and Belarusian athletes would be allowed to take part in the Winter Paralympics in Beijing. On Thursday, IPC banned the Russian and Belarusian athletes from the games after several National Paralympics Committees threatened not to compete in the games.
