China Supports Russian-Ukrainian Settlement Through Dialogue
Beijing, Feb 25: Beijing supports the settlement of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine through dialogue, Chinese President Xi Jinping said in a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday.
“Recently, the situation in eastern Ukraine has been changing rapidly, which has attracted increased attention from the international community… China supports the settlement of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine through negotiations,” Xi was quoted as saying by the CCTV.
The Chinese president also urged the global community to abandon the Cold War mentality and respect legitimate security interests of all countries. Xi also noted that Beijing is ready to work on establishing a balanced, effective and sustainable European security mechanism through negotiations.
“China is willing to work with all parties in the international community to uphold a unified, universal, cooperative and sustainable concept of security, and resolutely defend the international system with the central role of the UN and the international order based on international law,” Xi said.
