Lucknow, Feb 10: As polling began for the first phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday has appealed to the electorate to cast their votes. Polling began at 58 Assembly constituencies spread over 11 districts at 7 am. Through social media Yogi has appealed to the people of these areas to actively participate in the polling.
He tweeted, “Today is the first phase of ‘mahayagya’ of democracy. Your one ‘vote’ will strengthen the resolve of crime free, fear free and riot free UP. Therefore first vote.” Meanwhile Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya has also appealed to the voters and said, “Your one vote is the foundation of the bright future of UP. Today voting is being held for the first phase of UP polls. I appeal to all the voters of Assembly constituencies in the first phase to vote for the development, good governance and prosperity of their respective areas following Covid guidelines.”
It may be noted that polling is being held at 25,880 polling booths at 10,883 stations for 58 seats in Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura and Hathras. In this phase 2,28 crore electorates will decide the fate of 623 candidates including 73 females.
