Will Announce AAP’s Chief Ministerial Face For Punjab Polls Next Week : Kejriwal
Mohali, Jan 12: Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said his party’s chief ministerial face for the Punjab Assembly polls would be announced next week.
While presenting the 10-point ‘Punjab Model’ at the press conference here, Kejriwal revealed that an electoral alliance with the Sanyukt Samaj Morcha, a political outfit of farmers, could not be forged because of disagreement on seat-sharing.
The AAP supremo said SSM leader Balbir Rajewal had met him at his residence and wanted 60 tickets, however, AAP by then had declared 90 candidates and the offer was for any of the 27 left which was not acceptable, while admitting that it could harm the prospects of AAP in the elections.
Asked about the charges levelled by Rajewal that tickets in the party were being sold, Kejriwal accepted this and said Rajewal gave him a pen drive having a recording. “But it was just too vague people talking about sale of tickets and accepting of graft by senior party leaders, including himself (Kejriwal). There was no substantial proof, the AAP chief said.
“I request Rajewal ji that if he has any solid proof, he should take it to the public. If found true, I will hand over the person who accepted money to the police,” he informed.
Answering queries about similar allegations being made by rebels, the AAP supremo said if any person came up with proof of money for tickets, he himself would sack the culprits.
He claimed that nearly 25 Congress MLAs had approached him to induct them in the party but he refused to accept them.
Kejriwal said the AAP has prepared a 10-point ‘Punjab Model’ to make the state developed and prosperous if the party comes to power. “We will make such a prosperous Punjab that the youth who went to Canada for employment will return in the next five years,” he assured.
“We assure people of Punjab to improve law and order situation and ensure justice in all previous incidents of sacrilege if AAP comes to power. Security will be ensured to all – be it Prime Minister or anyone else,” Kejriwal said.
