Lucknow, Jan 31: The Election Commission of India (ECI) will issue notifications for the fifth phase polls on Tuesday. Polling for the fifth phase is scheduled on February 27, for 60 seats in 11 districts.
State Chief Electoral officer (CEO) Ajay Kumar Shukla said here on Monday that all preparations for the issuance of notification for the fifth phase has been completed and it will be done on Tuesday morning at 1100 hrs.
He said nominations for these 60 assembly seats will commence while strictly following Covid norms and other guidelines issued by the ECI. Filing of nominations for the fifth phase will commence from February 1. The last date for filing of nominations is February 8. Scrutiny of the nominations will be done on February 9 and the last date for withdrawal is February 11. The 60 seats going to polls in the fifth phase will cover 11 districts of Shravasti, Bahraich, Barabanki, Gonda, Ayodhya, Amethi, Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Chitrakoot and Prayagraj.
ECI will issue notification for the sixth phase on February 4 and for the seventh and last phase on February 10. UP is going to polls in 7 phases from February 10 to March 7 covering all the 403 assembly seats. Counting of votes would be taken up on March 10.
