TPCC President Revanth Reddy, Others Put Under House Arrest
Hyderabad, April 7: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Revanth Reddy, MP, and several senior party leaders on Thursday were placed under house arrest at different locations.
The house arrests was due to party’s call to stage a demonstration in front of Vidyut Soudha, the headquarters of the state electricity office, protesting against the hike in electricity charges in the state. A posse of police personnel were posted at the Jubilee Hills residence of Revanth Reddy.
The other prominent party leaders who were put under house arrest included TPCC Working President Mahesh Kumar Goud, former Minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Dasoju Shravan and Mallu Ravi.
Meanwhile, a large number of Mahila Congress leaders and workers protested by squatting in front of Vidyut soudha. During the protests, there was jostling and heated arguments between the Mahila Congress activists and the police. Several protesting Mahila Congress leaders and workers were arrested and shifted to Goshamahal police station.
