SAD-BSP Gov. Will Revamp Infrastructure In All Punjab Villages: Sukhbir
Bathinda, Feb 3: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday said that once the SAD-BSP government returns to power in Punjab it would take up a comprehensive project to construct concrete streets in all 12,000 odd villages of the state, besides ensuring potable drinking water and sewerage facilities.
Addressing a public gathering in Bathinda Rural constituency in favour of Parkash Singh Bhatti and at Bhucho Mandi in favour of Darshan Singh Kotfatta, Badal said “we are committed to improving the infrastructure of our villages on the pattern of cities. We will launch a comprehensive plan for this purpose once elected to power”.
He also announced that all farmers who did not have a tube well connection would get one within one month of formation of the government besides announcing that all homeless persons would be given a five Marla plot of land.
“In villages where common land is not available the government will purchase land and will allot it to the homeless”.
The SAD chief also took on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Convener Arvind Kejriwal and its chief ministerial candidate Bhagwant Mann and said in Delhi Kejriwal was not giving free power to farmers. “The Kejriwal government is also not giving old age pensions nor implementing the Shagun scheme. If it comes to power in Punjab it will adopt the same model in the state also. All these facilities will not be extended to Punjab even as power rates will be increased on the Delhi pattern”.
Speaking about Bhagwant Mann, he said “people do not want a leader who is a habitual drinker and was even been found intoxicated while paying a visit to Takht Damdama Sahib at Talwandi Sabo. Everyone knows he took a false oath in his mother’s name to stop consuming liquor and did not keep it. Such a person cannot be trusted”.
Asserting that AAP had cheated Punjabis just as it had done in 2017, Badal said “like in 2017, AAP has sold as many as 65 tickets to turncoats. It has given tickets to tainted persons and rejects like Amit Rattan who has been fielded from Bathinda Rural despite being expelled from the SAD for duping farmers”.
Urging the people to give a chance to a trusted party like SAD and not AAP, he said “we live in your neighbourhood. You have seen the functioning of Parkash Singh Badal who has visited all your houses. Kejriwal stays in Delhi. He might shift to some other State once his party loses Punjab. Where will you go to meet him?” Speaking about the development done in the area, Badal said “you have witnessed Bathinda and its neighbouring constituencies develop during the previous SAD led government. You have seen AIIMS come up here. Also a central university. Thermal plants have come up in your vicinity. You have seen how the entire road network has been revamped. How the establishment of the refinery has led to prosperity in the area. All this has become possible due to the visionary politics of Parkash Singh Badal. We are committed to carrying forward this legacy”.
