Rahul Making Mockery Of Poor In Punjab : Chugh
Chandigarh, Feb 9: The BJP on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for time and again saying that the Congress’s chief minister candidate Charanjit Singh Channi came from a poor family. BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh said Rahul Gandhi was making a mockery of the poor in Punjab by bracketing Rs 170-crore worth Channi with the blue card holders.
He said if Channi is a “garib” face of the Congress, then the real poor in Punjab could imagine their fate if the Congress is voted to power. While asserting that Rahul Gandhi should stop ridiculing the poor in Punjab, the BJP leader underlined how the Modi government had provided free ration to the 1.42 lakh poor in the state and gave other facilities. The BJP, he said, had been providing pucca houses, LPG connections and toilets to the poor and the Congress is now presenting Channi as a poor face for the chief minister office.
Chugh blasted the 111-day government of Channi during which his nephew minted crores to rupees through transfer and posting besides providing protection to mafias in the state. He said the confessions made by Channi’s nephew during his custody in the ED has shocked the state and showed the face of governance the Congress would provide. “The Channi model of the Congress has ruined the state and it is time for the people of Punjab to throw the Congress out of the state”, he added.
