Ponder Over Support To Sinha: Shivpal To Akhilesh
Lucknow, July 16: Pragatisheel Samaj Party (PSP) president Shivpal Singh Yadav on Saturday claimed that presidential candidate of the opposition parties Yashwant Sinha once called Mulayam Singh Yadav as an agent of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI and appealed Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav to reconsider his decision to support him.
Shivpal, who is also SP MLA from Jaswantnagar, has written a letter to Akhilesh in this regard. He has also tweeted the letter along with a cutting of an old news clip.
In his letter Shivpal has said, “I want to attract your attention and that of all the well wishers of SP towards a very serious and sensitive issue. It is the strange irony of the destiny that in presidential election SP has supported supported a person, who had described respected Netaji (Mulayam), who is guardian of all of us and a source of inspiration and energy, as an agent of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI during his tenure as the Defence Minister.”
He said that it is unfortunate that SP could not get a person with a distinct socialist heritage as a presidential candidate. “It gives me pain and anguish to say that the socialists who once used to get angry at the insult of Netaji, today in the presidential election people of the same heritage are supporting a person who insulted Netaji,” he said.
Shivpal said that it seems that the entire party has become a laughing stock. “Akhilesh ji, I know my limits, you are the president of Samajwadi Party, in such a situation it is my suggestion that in the light of the above facts you should reconsider your decision,” he said.
Notably, Akhilesh along with his ally Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) president Jayant Chaudhary had already announced to support Sinha in the presidential elections. The two leaders held a joint press conference with Sinha in Lucknow last week.
