Naqvi Slams Gehlot For Jodhpur Clashes
New Delhi, May 3: Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Tuesday slammed Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for failing to stop violent clashes from happening between two groups in Jodhpur ahead of Eid.
As the chief minister he must take responsibility for what is happening in the state, Naqvi said.
Demanding strict action against those, who were involved in the incident, the Minister said the state government has failed in maintaining law and order and the criminals are roaming free fearlessly.
“There are some who are trying to regain political space by using these kinds of incidents, which is unfortunate” he told UNI.
He said: “Brazenly some people wear veil of secularism and carry a bag of communalism to create division in society and create conflict”. “Their main purpose is to disrupt the development process undertaken by the Modi government,” he alleged.
On Tuesday tension continued to grip Jodhpur city after a face off between two groups over hoisting of religious flags on Monday night. Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities Iqbal Singh Lalpura also condemned the violence and said he will seek a detailed report from the state Chief Secretary.
