Smriti Irani takes on Rahul Gandhi for his ‘war against state’ remark

Doddaballapur (Karnataka), Sep 10: Expressing her shock over former Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s ‘War Against Indian State’ statement, firebrand BJP leader and Union Minister Smirit Irani on Saturday said the people of the country would make him ‘bite the dust for this’.

“When we were in the opposition, we never had once left the slogan of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai ‘ and never raised a single voice mentioning “Bharat Tere Tukde Honge’. But Yediyurappa ji, I am shocked. Yesterday, Rahul Gandhi told publicly that he was fighting a political party earlier, but now he is fighting the Indian state,” she said, addressing the Janaspandana rally at Doddaballapur here.

Continuing further, Irani said, “I want to ask the Gandhi family. Power comes and goes. Indira Gandhi also lost power, but she did not wage a fight against the state. Today, your son has declared a war against India. Rahul Gandhi should better listen up that until the last breath of each Indian, India will not break. And the war you have waged against India, we all together will make you bite the dust.”

Irani was reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s statement given in a press conference yesterday during the party’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ in Tamil Nadu.

The Gandhi scion had said, “As I have said, the BJP has taken control of all the institutions of this country. They have inserted most of their people in most of the institutions. They pressurize through these institutions. You know the role of the CBI, of the ED, of the Income Tax Department. You know how they deal with these things. So, we are not fighting a political party. We used to fight a political party. Now the fight is between the structure of the Indian state and the opposition.”

This also reflects that the Gandhis can go to any extent even to wage a war against the state to seek power, Irani said.

Irani also appealed to the people of Karnataka to ask Rahul Gandhi about his “Bharat Jodo Yatra” which was being participated by those who were raising “Bharat Tere Tukde Honge” slogans.

“People should also ask Rahul Gandhi about the beautification of a person’s grave because 150 Indians lost their lives. These questions should be answered by the Congress and you (people) all will get them answered. I have faith in you that you would do so,” she said.

Amethi MP also sought answers from Congress for its ‘silence’ over Sardar Patel’s Statue of Unity and Statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose unveiled at Kartavya Path in New Delhi.

“I want to ask the Rahul Gandhi-led Congress that the whole world honoured and saluted Sardar Patel’s Statue of Unity. But the Congress not only paid any respect to Sardar Patel, but also removed his portrait from the party’s banners,” she said.

“I also want to ask Rahul Gandhi. He could have avoided bringing shame on himself by paying respects to Swami Vivekananda before launching “Bharat Jodo Yatra” (from Kanyakumari). He did not do that because Swami Vivekanada is a “Rashtra Sant”, not related to the Gandhis. I want to ask Rahul Gandhi, even after unveiling Netaji’s statue at Karyapath, not a single message has come forth on it,” she further said.

“I also want to ask the Gandhi family. You install statues of the Gandhis but not pay respects to Netaji. I want to ask Rahul Gandhi that why during the Congress rule, it did not remove the symbol of slavery on the flag of Navy. But Narendra Modi ji replaced it with Shivaji’s symbol,” Irani said.
