Ex-Minister Joginder Maan Joins AAP
Phagwara, Jan 15: Veteran Congress leader and former Punjab Minister Joginder Singh Mann on Saturday joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), a day after he snapped a half-century relationship with the Congress party.
A nephew of former Union Minister Buta Singh, Mann joined the AAP in the presence of party leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and party leader Raghav Chadha.
Chadha, who is co-in-charge of the AAP in Punjab, said Maan’s induction would give the AAP a huge boost in the assembly elections.
“His induction will give a huge boost to the party unit in Punjab,” Chadha tweeted and posted a photo showing Mann joining the AAP in the presence of Kejriwal.
A well known leader of the Scheduled Caste community, Mann was miffed with the Congress over the lack of action against those responsible for an alleged post-matric SC scholarship scam and non-grant of the status f a district to Phagwara.
When he quit the Congress, he also resigned as Chairman of the Punjab Agro Industries Corporation, a post that gave him a Cabinet rank.
Polling will be held in Punjab on February 14.
