New Delhi, Feb 4 : The Congress on Friday asserted that it was confident of winning the Punjab Assembly elections and accused AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal of being propped up covertly by the BJP. No matter what tactics the Bharatiya Janata Party employs, the Congress will retain power “with the blessing of Punjabis”, party General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala said. His remarks came after the Enforcement Department arrested the Punjab Chief Minister’s nephew Bhupendra Singh Honey on Thursday night over his alleged involvement in a money laundering case. Calling the agency “BJP’s ED”, Surjewala said:
“No one can stop the Congress from returning to power in the state with the blessings of Punjabis.” Calling Kejriwal a “Chhote Modi”, Surjewal said the ED raids were conducted to help the Aam Aadmi Party to come in the power in Punjab through “chor darwaza”. “Kejriwal had notified the black law of agriculture, now the favour is being returned,” he said. Surjewala alleged that AAP was working as a B team of the BJP and the Chief Minister of Delhi was acting as a political clone of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“AAP is supporting the BJP by covering fire by dividing the mandate of votes against the BJP,” he said. He called the ED action not an attack on Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi but the entire people of Punjab for supporting the farmers’ movement. The ED action came ahead of the February 20 elections in Punjab.
