BJP Will Get Majority In State Legislature: Yogi
Gorakhpur, April 9: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday expressed confidence that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will sweep the Legislative Council polls and said that it would be after four decades that any party will have majority in both the houses of the Legislature. Being an MLA from Gorakhpur and ex-officio member of the local body Yogi exercised his franchise at a booth at the Municipal Corporation. After casting his vote the CM extended his greetings on the occasion of Mahashtami.
“On this pious day polling is being held for the local bodies constituencies of the Council. Of the 36 seats for which polling was to be held BJP candidates have already won on nine of them unopposed,” he said.
He said that BJP had succeeded in forming the majority government in the state by winning more than two-third seats in the assembly polls under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“I feel that after four years a situation will arise when the ruling party will be having an absolute majority in the upper house as well,” he said. Yogi appealed to all the voters from Kshetra Panchayat members to MPs and MLA to ensure majority for the BJP in both the houses of the state legislature to take public welfare programmes forward.
“In 2017 polls people blessed BJP with a thumping majority on the appeal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now in 2022 a government with absolute majority has been formed in the state under the leadership of the PM,” he said. He said, “Though we had an absolute majority in 2017 in the assembly, we had to face a lot of difficulties in the council.
Samajwadi Party (SP) made all efforts to block the development of the state due to its negative role, but now when BJP will win most of the 27 seats and the party will have absolute majority in the upper house then the government will be in a comfortable position in taking development and public welfare programmes to each and every person of the state,” he said.
