Lesson From Twin Towers: A Historic Demolition and A Monumental wrecking Of Public Money

By D N Singh

The twin towers in Noida have been demolished, leaving a message that, anything that is built with the ingredients of corruption shall not be tolerated.

In politics, sometimes, or more often than not, an Ostrich like scene comes into play.

The builders of the twin-towers in Noida, taller than Qutub Minar, had started work way back and from then, the building company,  Messrs Supertech Construction started doing the building raising brick by brick, in public glare and surely not the Noida Development Authority (NDA) was in blinkers on nor the other supervising agencies had their necks dug in any hole.

An unholy alliance cannot be founded in a day or two. So the NDA and the architectural agencies were very much in the know of it, brazenly  when, one cannot hope the state or NCR authorities chose to look the other way.

Notwithstanding the invested money buried under the imploded towers, but the State had to cough up a hefty sum of Rs.17.55 crore for razing down the twin towers.

Whose money was that Rs.17.55 cr? From the public exchequer, obviously.

The builders were charged with some ‘irregularities’ in the construction and hence a probe later. There irregularities were being done in the open and that too with the construction of taller than Qutub Minar, nobody could spot the anomalies.
