Was it an exercise for any compelling political reason or an exercise in futility propelled by circumstances like, Manish Sisodia got a huge thumbs up from the American newspaper The New Yorks Times. Which had described Sisodia as one of the best Education ministers in the world.
Whatsoever, the media in India came to a grinding halt that day, when CBI officers made simultaneous raids at 21 locations, including his residence, as if nothing else happened elsewhere in the country.
Hundreds of cameras were preening at Sisodia’s gate. Chorus of field reporters ranted the air and gossip mills actively feeding stock rumours about collapse of Aap and Sisodia in jail etc.
Some documents, as reports said, were seized and a few personal gadgets like Sisodia’s personal laptop were taken by the CBI sleuths, regarding which till date there are no information as what came out.
Even there were rumours thick that, Sisodia had absconded and a lookout notice was served. ‘ I am here, roaming freely in Delhi’ tweeted Sisodia, pulverising the news.
TheThen the CM and Deputy CM, Kejriwal and Sisodia, as scheduled earlier, left for Gujarat. Till then there were perplexing silence in the BJP camp, except a few insignificant voices, charging the AAP about deep corruption they were in.
After a prolonged hiatus, on Tuesday, the Sisodia couple was summoned to a bank in Ghaziabad where they had the family bank locker.
Search for a million dollar heist from the alleged flawed excise policy ended in a whimper. Rs. 70,000 worth of ornaments were found inside.
Sisodia thanked the CBI for being decent with him throughout the raids and went back home with a clean chit.
That was the tale of Manish Sisodia and the investigating agency, which woke up from nowhere and went to die down.
The point is, what was the rationale behind the entire exercise. If it was triggered by the jealousy through NYT coverage or, or, Aap’s latest target and that is its juggernaut to Gujarat? But, there is an odor of political motive that still stinks.
