Bhadrak: A woman was shot while resisting a loot at Ertal village under Basudebpur police limits in Bhadrak district on Friday.
The woman identified as Jyotsnarani Sahu of Alabaga village was returning home with her daughter after buying medicines at Ertal market.
Suddenly, three bike borne miscreants intercepted them and attempted to loot her mobile phone.
As she resisted the loot, one of the miscreants shot her. Sahu sustained bullet injury on her hand.
She was first rushed to Basudebpur CHC and later shifted to the district headquarters hospital.
The miscreants were able to flee the spot after the incident. A probe into the matter has been initiated by Basudebpur Police.
