Sundargarh, Feb 12: The Odisha Vigilance Department officials resumed searches for second consecutive day at the official residence of Biswajit Mohapatra, ADM, Sundargarh in connection with the disproportionate assets case. Biswajit was taken to Sundargarh yesterday night from his Bhubaneswar residence and is being questioned by the vigilance sleuths regard the properties unearthed during the searches. The department had carried out simultaneous searches at seven places and unearthed huge properties including more than Rs Two Crore Forty lakhs in Bank Deposits, Insurance premium and mutual fund investments.
During house searches, the Vigilance has found one double-storeyed building at Naharkanta, Bhubaneswar worth about Rs. 89 lakhs, one flat at Rasulgarh, Bhubaneswar, 10 Plots In Bhubaneswar and Jagatsinghpur, plot located at Naharkanta College Road, Bhubaneswar, measuring area 5000 sqft. “Verification and valuation of plots are being done. Market value may be in crores,” the Vigilance has said.
The Vigilance Directorate has also said that ADM Biswajit Mohapatra had recently started Cement supply business in the name of his spouse. “A godown with Cement stocks opposite to his house in Balianta has been unearthed and the finance Wing of Odisha Vigilance is carrying out valuation of Cement stocks at the godown,”. Rs 3 lakhs in cash and gold weighing 350 grams has been unearthed and further searches are underway.
