Southwest Monsoon; Early Advances Into South Bay Of Bengal
Bhubaneswar, May 16: A sigh of relief for people of Odisha, who are reeling under sizzling hot sun. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday, informed about the advance of Southwest Monsoon into some parts of South Bay of Bengal and most parts of Andaman Nicobar Islands.
According to IMD, conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of South Bay of Bengal, entire Andaman Sea & Andaman Islands, and some parts of East-central Bay of Bengal during the next 2 days, it added.
Meanwhile, the IMD has predicted that light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places across Odisha for the next five days while thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Odisha till May 18.
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur,
Koraput, Malkangiri, Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi and thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Rayagada, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Bolangir, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal today.
Similar weather condition is to prevail over the districts of Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Jajpur, and Bhadrak tomorrow.
Likewise, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the
districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, and Gajapati on May 18.
