Shocking Superstition: Minor Girl Married To Stray Dog In Dhenkanal
Dhenkanal, Mar 9: Superstition have been a part of rural people’s life but with modernisation and awareness programmes it has been eradicated in many corners of the state. But amid all apprehensions, in a shocking incident related to such superstitious acts, a minor girl has been married off to a dog in order to ward off bad luck at Debgansahi in of Dhenkanal district.
Reportedly, the tribals believed that the emergence of the first tooth on the upper jaw of a baby is inauspicious.
It is also believed that if they do not perform this particular ritual, it may be dangerous for the child in future. Hence, the child was married off to a dog.
The wedding gets performed with full decoration and feast among the locals. Notably, this tradition has been going on for years due to a lack of awareness.
