Bhubaneswar: Former MLA Satya Bhusan Sahu is to be named by the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) as its candidate for the upcoming bypoll to Padampur Assembly Constituency in Bargarh district.
Sahu is a three-time MLA and former government chief whip. He had won from the seat in 2004. The news about his proposed candidature was shared by Congress MLAs Suresh Kumar Routray and Tara Prasad Bahinipati.
The last date of filing nomination papers for the bypoll is November 17 and the scrutiny is on November 18. The last date of withdrawing candidature is November 21. The polling will be held on December 5, while results are scheduled to be declared on December 8.
