Relief To Parents, No Physical Classes For Std 1-5 Students: I&PR

Bhubaneswar, Jan 2: In a major decision from Odisha government and a big relief for the panicked parents. The state Govt. has decided to postpone the earlier scheduled reopening of physical mode of teaching of primary schools, for classes 1 to 5 students from January 3, 2022 (Monday).

State I & PR department on Sunday said that the State government has decided to postpone the reopening of the primary schools owing to the spike in Covid-19 cases in the past two days. It is pertinent to mention here that Odisha reported 424 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

“As per our previous decision, nodal officers had started visiting schools across the State. As a lot of parents and guardians expressed their reservations and owing to rise in Covid-19 cases, the State government has decided to postpone the reopening of primary schools,” said School and Mass Education Minister, Sameer Ranjan Dash.

Dash said the decision to postpone the reopening of primary schools has been taken following consultations with all stakeholders and health experts. The feedback of parents and others have also been taken into account while taking the decision.

However, the physical mode of teaching for class 6 to 10 students will continue as per the previous schedule. Similarly, the summative assessment examination for class 10 students will be conducted as per schedule by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) from January 5, 2022.
