Bhubaneswar: After a brief lull, the upward trend in daily COVID cases continued for the second consecutive day in Odisha with 387 cases being detected from 6,308 samples in the last 24 hours.

According to the state Health Department statistics released on Thursday, this is the highest single-day tally in the last eight months.

The fresh infections has pushed the active tally past 2,000. The state now has 2,177 active cases while the test positivity rate (TPR) stands at 6.1%.

It is worth mentioning here that the weekly TPR in Odisha was above 10% in three districts – Sonepur (15.5), Sundargarh (14.26), and Sambalpur (12.67) during the period April 10-16. What is alarming is that Odisha is now among the 10 states stimulating the country’s tally.
