Bhubaneswar, Feb 24: Over 70% turnout in the 5th phase Panchayat poll conducted on Thursday, informed State Election Commissioner, Aditya Prasad Padhi.
In a press briefing, Padhi said that the three-tier panchayat election was concluded peacefully. The fifth phase election that was conducted at 13,514 booths in as many as 975 villages, 48 blocks, and 25 districts was almost free and fair. Around 70 voters out of 41 lakh and 88 thousand justified their voting rights in the final round of the three-tier rural body election.
However, disruption in polling has been noticed in some booths where re-polling will be conducted in consultation with the concerned district Collectors.
