Bhubaneswar, July 29: The daily covid load in Odisha for the third consecutive day reported more than 1000 mark as 1020 new cases were registered in the past 24 hours pushing the tally in the state to 13,111,35.
On July 26 the state reported 1174 cases which declined to 1030 on July 27 and finally the load marginally reduced further to 1020 in the past 24 hours, indicating a decline trend of the infections.
Official sources said of the 1020 new cases,597 were recorded from the quarantine centres and the rest 423 from local contacts.
At least 195 fresh cases were recorded in the age group of 0 to 18 years.
Sundargarh district topped the district tally with 259 cases followed by Khordha(158), Sambalpur ( 88), Mayurbhanj(71) and Cuttack ( 52).
These five districts together accounted for 61.5 per cent of the total new infections reported in the past 24 hours.
Health department sources said one covid patient from Bhadrak district succumbed while undergoing treatment taking the total fatalities in the state to 9138.
There has been a marginal decline also in the number of active cases from 6974 to 6787 in the past 24 hours of which Khordha district alone contributed 1427cases followed by Sundargarh (1408), Sambalpur(632) and Mayurbhanj(501).
These four districts together contributed 58.4 per cent of the total active cases in the state.
The state’s Test Positivity Rate (TPR) also marginally declined to 4.3 per cent in the past 24 hours from 4.95 per cent recorded on the previous day.
However, six districts in the state reported the TPR above 7.5 per cent and three districts above 5 per cent to remain under Red Zones and Yellow Zones respectively.
