Odisha Assembly House Committee To Examine The Parikrama Project Of Sri Jagannath Temple
Bhubaneswar, March 29 : A house Committee will be constituted to examine the Parikrama project work going on around the Sri Jagannath temple, Odisha Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Bikram Keshari Arukh said in a statement in the Odisha Assembly on Tuesday . The Minister made the statement in the house on the direction of the Speaker after several members during the zero hour expressed concern over the ongoing work and demanded the Speaker to constitute a House Committee and direct the government to make a statement on the issue. Arukh said the Speaker is scheduled to constitute several committees on March 31 next and we are ready to constitute a Committee for examining the Parikrama project work. Raising the issue Jayant Sarangi (BJP ) said the ASI and NMA said they have not given permission for the work and the government said the work is going on with the permission of the authorities.
Sri Jagannath temple , he said, has developed cracks due to the vibration caused by the use of heavy machineries in the developmental work. The developmental work undertaken by the government to beautify the area has posed a threat to the temple,Sharangi said and requested the Speaker to direct the government to make a statement on the issue He was supported by his party colleague Mohan Majhi, and Congress members including Tara Prasad Bahinipati.
The Minister in his statement said the house has passed a unanimous resolution to do the Parikrama project work unitedly and the work is going on smoothly and there is no threat to the temple. If the members wanted, then we are ready to constitute a committee to look into the work, Arukh said.
