Bhubaneswar: A newly-wed woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in Kalinga Vihar area of Bhubaneswar on Monday night. However, her parents alleged that she was murdered by her in-laws for dowry.
The deceased identified as Sushree Sangita of Niali had married Prabin Kumar of Cuttack around 1.5 years back. She was staying with her in-laws in Bhubaneswar and working as a nurse.
As per her family members, they received a call from her mother-in-law yesterday night stating that Sangita had fell unconscious. When her parents reached Bhubaneswar, she had been admitted at AIIMS where she was declared dead.
While Sangita’s in-laws claimed that she committed suicide by hanging herself, her parents alleged that she has been murdered. They said that Sangita was repeatedly tortured by her in-laws and used to force her to give them her salary.
