Bhubaneswar: A minor girl engaged as a domestic labour was rescued from a house at Satya Enclave, Satya Vihar, under Mancheswar police limits in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
The 13-year-old girl was working in the house of Rashmi Ranjan Jena and Pratima Nayak. She was rescued in a joint rescue operation of Childline, Labour Officer and Police.
As per her statement, she was studying in Class-VI in her village school at Raj Kanika area, Kendrapada when she was trafficked for domestic servitude at Bhubaneswar.
One Ananta Jena, the father of Pratima trafficked her for the purpose of labour during February 2022. She was engaged as domestic servant at his daughter’s house 8 months back.
For any deficiency of her work she was brutally beaten by Pratima. Pratima also branded her with hot iron. Marks of burn wounds are visible on her body.
