IISc Bangalore Receives Rs 425 Crore Donation from Susmita & Subroto Bagchi, Radha & NS Parthasarathy to Build 800-bed Multi-speciality Hospital
Bhubaneswar, Feb 14: Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore has received its largest private donation of Rs 425 crore to help build an 800-bed multi-speciality hospital in its Bengaluru campus.
Philanthropists Susmita and Subroto Bagchi, and Radha and NS Parthasarathy will collectively donate Rs 425 crore for the project. After its founding, this is the largest single private donation received by IISc. The hospital will be named as the Bagchi-Parthasarathy Hospital, IISc Bangalore said in a statement.
“We are extremely delighted to announce that Susmita & Subroto Bagchi and Radha & NS Parthasarathy will donate Rs 425 crore to establish a multi-speciality hospital on campus!”, the premier institute said.
The not-for-profit 800-bed multi-speciality hospital will be catering to the clinical training and research activities of the academic programme. To construct the hospital building, designed by Ahmedabad-based architects Archi Medes (I) Consultants Pvt Ltd, IISc inked a pathbreaking partnership with philanthropists Susmita and Subroto Bagchi, and Radha and NS Parthasarathy.
The Bagchi-Parthasarathy Hospital will be built within the existing IISc Bengaluru campus, taking full advantage of the co-location with the science and engineering faculties and labs. The ground-breaking is planned for June 2022 and the hospital will be operational by the end of 2024.
Meanwhile, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has appreciated Susmita Bagchi, and Subroto Bagchi, and Radha Parthasarathy and NS Parthasarathy for joining hands with IISc Bangalore for the project and said that the magnanimous will gesture inspire many others towards philanthropy.
