Gharial Crocodile Spotted In Mahanadi River At Cuttack
As per reports, a huge crocodile was spotted in Mahanadi River. It has been believed that it washed ashore to the River. While the crocodile is yet to be rescued by the Forest Department, it is being discussed that the team from Nandankanan Zoological Park and the Forest Department will later tranquilize the reptile to rescue it.
A large number of commuters halted on the Mahanadi bridge here to get a glimpse of the croc which was lying idle on the river bed.
The Gharial croc was spotted under Madhusudhan Setu on outskirts of the city. However, the forest officials said that there was no need to panic as 17 gharials have been released into Mahanadi as per a programme.
Four crocodiles have been fitted with GPS. One of them is moving near Naraj while the other close to Banki, the officials said.
