Bhubaneswar: Creating a void in the academic world eminent writer, lyricist, and academician Mangalu Charan Biswal breathed his last at his residence in Baradunguri village under Rengali block of Sambalpur district on Monday night. He was 87. Succumbed to old age problems.
Notably Biswal was admitted to VIMSAR in Burla as he had fallen in the bathroom in his home and . He had recently returned home, however, was not fully recovered and had been bedridden for a long time.
Biswal wrote many Sambalpuri plays including āBhukhaā which was later made into a movie of the same name. He has long been involved with All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan in Cuttack and Sambalpur. Many of his writings are still in school textbooks. Many political leaders and academicians expressed their condolences to the bereaved family.
Born on May 4, 1935, at Pitapali village in Sambalpur, he had started his career as a school teacher at Sripura village in Jharsuguda.
