Bhubaneswar, Jan 27: (UNI) Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday asked the administration to remain alert and continue the awareness campaign to contain the corona pandemic.
Reviewing the Covid-19 situation through video conferencing, CM Patnaik stressed on giving the booster dose to the covid frontline warriors and senior citizens. The Chief Minister said while the number of active covid cases in the state remained stagnant, the number of new positive cases has declined There is not much pressure on hospitals during the third wave, Patnaik said. But there is no room for complacency and advised the administration to remain fully prepared and keep a vigil on the situation.
The Chief Minister also asked the officials to continue the awareness campaign across the state through the active support of the Mission Shakti groups. Patnaik asked the officials to be more careful and to ensure that the people follow the covid protocols strictly.
He advised the Rapid Response Team and field officials to properly monitor the health conditions of covid patients undergoing treatment in home isolations. He appealed to people to observe the covid guidelines and not to panic.
Additional Chief Secretary Health and Family Welfare R K Sharma said while 65,000 to 70,000 testing is being done daily the test positivity rate now stands at 11.4 percent which is less than the national average. The positivity rate in the districts of Jajpur, Cuttack, Balasore, Sundergarh and Khordha is comparatively high.
