Bhubaneswar, July 8: NDA’s presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu on Friday welcomed here in the State Capital, with all hearts and warmth as a proud daughter of the soil.
Murmu was accorded a grand reception at Bhubaneswar airport before she was escorted to State Guest House.
She had a meeting with legislators and parliamentarians of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and held discussions on President’s election with BJD and BJP leaders.
Before leaving for Lucknow, she had a sumptuous Odia cuisine lunch with CM at his residence, in the presence of Puri MP Pinaki Mishra and Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

Mumru said, “Being a Subhadra, I had tied rakhi to CM who is like Jagannath to me. Before asking for support, like a brother CM Naveen Patnaik has already extended his support for me. I would like to call upon others to support the daughter of this soil to create a history. Apart from CM, I am thankful to others for extending support to me.”
She further said, “I am extremely happy because when my name was announced, CM was in Dubai. I rang CM and asked for his support. The CM without thinking agreed to support me. Being a daughter of this soil, I became a councilor, a legislator, a minister and lastly became a Governor. I tried to give my best in every role. Still many things left for me to do. Not only my village, I would like to work for entire Odisha and make our state feel proud of a President. As someone from Odisha is going to be President of India which is the highest constitutional office in India, Odisha government’s role has increased to make this happen.”
