Aug 6: ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign under the aegis of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ urging citizens to hoist the Tricolor at their home to mark the 75th year of India’s Independence. The Congress and a host of its top leaders from last Wednesday changed their display pics on social media accounts to an image of India’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru holding the national flag, evoking a “dynastic” jibe from the BJP. On Saturday the Thiruvanantapuram Congress MP, Sashi Tharoor’s Twitter post seems like a satire on the Central Govt’s pro-people promises.

Earlier on last Sunday in his Mann ki Baat radio broadcast, PM Modi said the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ is turning into a mass movement and urged people to put the ‘tiranga’ as the profile picture of their social media accounts between August 2 and 15.
Under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, the Ministry of Culture posted a step-by-step guide on how to fold and store the national flag correctly. And in 2021, the Centre announced the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ initiative in a bid to commemorate 75 years of Independence.
